Political Communications Internship (Paid, Part-Time)

Location: Remote or Huntsville, AL
Compensation: $15/hour; 1099
Hours: 15 hours/week
Term: September 2025- Spring 2026 with Potential for full-time employment

We are a strategic communications firm specializing in messaging, branding, podcasting, and media strategy for democratic political candidates, issue advocacy campaigns, and political action committees (PACs).  We are passionate about driving progressive change through sharp communications and compelling storytelling. We work up and down the ballot—from local city council seats to national super PACs.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Communications Intern to join our team for the Winter of 2025- Spring 2026. This internship is an excellent opportunity for students or recent grads interested in political communications, digital strategy, and campaign media operations. The intern will support the day-to-day execution of press and media deliverables, social media content development, and research.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft press releases, media advisories, op-eds, blogs, and talking points for candidates and advocacy campaigns

  • Assist in scheduling, researching, and planning weekly podcast episodes

  • Monitor media coverage and compile daily news clips and media tracking reports

  • Assist with writing and scheduling content for social media platforms (Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn)

  • Conduct background research on candidates, districts, policy issues, and opposition narratives

  • Support the coordination of interviews, press events, and rapid response communications

  • Assist in updating and maintaining media contact databases and campaign messaging docs

  • Contribute to brainstorming sessions and messaging development meetings

  • Pull and edit video content for distribution

Qualifications:

  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills

  • Interest in politics, media, public affairs, or campaign strategy

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines

  • Proficient in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive), Canva, and social media platforms

  • Highly organized with attention to detail and accuracy

Bonus Points For:

  • Familiarity with ad-buying platforms (Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads, DSPs)

  • Basic understanding of SEO principles and web analytics tools 

  • Experience using media monitoring tools (e.g., Meltwater, Cision)

  • Video editing skills (iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Adobe, or similar)

Eligibility:

  • Current undergraduate or graduate students, or recent graduates

  • Must be able to commit to 15 hours per week (schedule flexible)

  • Must have access to a computer and a reliable internet connection
